[10:01] Laylah Lecker: ok first portion[10:01] Laylah Lecker: ➤How to use ao's and huddles, How to install your poses to your ao's
[10:01] Laylah Lecker: As many of you know the default stand and walk in SL is horrible! What we use to give our avatar a more natural stand and walk is to wear an "Animation Overrider" or AO for short.
[10:01] Laylah Lecker: Animation Overriders replace the standard SL animations. You can generally choose which animation you wish to override. You can override one animation, or all of them.
[10:02] Laylah Lecker: You’ll need to purchase animations to model.
[10:02] Laylah Lecker: Models pose J And pose is another term we use for animations. SL also makes no distinction between moving and static animation files
[10:02] Laylah Lecker: So you can use a moving animation file as a stand. Or you can use a static pose as a stand.
[10:02] Laylah Lecker: However, it’s important to realize that AO’s are generally best for your day to day animations such as walks, stands, sits, runs etc.
[10:03] Laylah Lecker: Not many people would recommend an AO for runway modeling. I wouldn’t recommend you use an AO for modeling.
[10:03] Laylah Lecker: I have found that AO’s don’t allow control…and we will want to strike a pose immediately and know which pose we are executing.
[10:03] Laylah Lecker: There are tons of AOs in SL, and some are free and some are very expensive. Most AOs are based on Francis Chung's Franimation Overrider script (originally written back in 2004), so fortunately most AOs work in the same way.
[10:03] Laylah Lecker: For most of AOs, you are able to edit a notecard that is in the contents area of your AO. Before you edit the notecard, pick the animations you want to use by dragging the pose from your inventory into the AO. Then you reset the AO. There it is you have new animations in your AO!
[10:04] Laylah Lecker: When adding new animations to your AO’s notecard, you have to put the *EXACT* name of the animation in its appropriate place.
[10:04] Laylah Lecker: Any notecard is case-sensitive, so the spelling and case has to be exactly the same as the animation file.
[10:04] Laylah Lecker: Also, be sure that you don’t add any blank lines in the notecard.
[10:05] Laylah Lecker: The easiest way I have found so far is to right click on the animation and go to its properties that way all you have to do is highlight the animation name and copy (control C or selct copy from the pull down menu that pops up) then paste it onto your notecard.
[10:05] Laylah Lecker: that way I don't make any mistakes those notecards are picky!
**************************
[10:05] Laylah Lecker: Now on to HUD’s[10:05] Laylah Lecker: HUD stands for “Heads up Display,” and typically consists of a control panel with different buttons you can click on to do specific stuff.
[10:06] Laylah Lecker: The AO I am wearing now is the best one for me and its the vista perfect lady
[10:07] Laylah Lecker: that is awesome that some of you have the vista ao because most of them have the walks we use on the runway
[10:08] Laylah Lecker: save you money for the AO's you can get by with what you have now
[10:08] Laylah Lecker: you will need to purchase a huddles for this class
[10:08] Laylah Lecker: and if you are on a budget save it for the huddles and poses :)
[10:09] Laylah Lecker: there is the option of basic huddles and deluxe huddles and you can get by with either one
[10:09] Laylah Lecker: so back to HUDs
[10:10] Laylah Lecker: HUDs are an evolution of user interaction in SL: before HUDs, Residents were limited to typing commands in chat or pop-up windows with choices to click on.
[10:10] Laylah Lecker: These methods are still used — sometimes in tandem with HUDs — but HUDs are often more visually attractive because you are the only one who can see your HUD on your screen and often user-friendly, meaning you are better able to control what animation you want to use at that exact moment.
[10:11] Laylah Lecker: so this is why HUDs are better for modeling
[10:12] Laylah Lecker: because we control what animation we want to use at that exact moment.
[10:13] Laylah Lecker: the finer details, such as creating notecards will depend on your specific HUD, but since it's nice to know the basics of how such things work:
[10:13] Laylah Lecker: so after you get a HUD it appears in your inventory, perhaps in a folder, with instructions. It’s identical to your AO, you simply right-click the HUD and select Wear to automatically attach it to the point the HUD creator set when they made it. If there are buttons, they may be labeled, and you can often safely explore by clicking them to see what they do.
[10:14] Laylah Lecker: I would recommend the huddles becasue we have to use them here
[10:14] Laylah Lecker: however if you have more to spend
[10:14] Laylah Lecker: I love the Balut hud
[10:15] Laylah Lecker: and what is awesome about the balut
[10:16] Laylah Lecker: you should be able to....the one we have to use allows us the option to invite others to our huddles
[10:16] Laylah Lecker: so the cheaper one is 599 I think
[10:16] Laylah Lecker: while the deluxe is like 1500 or something like that
[10:17] Laylah Lecker: you can do it! and if any of you are truly struggling with money just let the trainers know and we can try and help you
*****************
[10:17] Laylah Lecker: Now how we add animations to our AO’s is the same way we would add animations to our HUDS. You edit a notecard that you find in the contents area of your HUD. Additionally you can usually create a new notecard with your chosen animations and drop that into your HUD.[10:18] Laylah Lecker: Again when adding new animations to your HUD’s notecard, you have to put the *EXACT* name of the animation in its appropriate place, and make sure you don’t add any blank lines in the notecard.
[10:18] Laylah Lecker: ok I'm going to pass you all a full perm pose I found so we can practice dropping them into your ao or hud
[10:21] Laylah Lecker: now the steps :)
1. Detach AO or HUD
2. Drag it from your inventory on to the ground
3. Right click the AO or HUD and chose edit
4. Drop the animation I gave you into the AO or HUD by dragging the pose from your inventory into the HUD.
5. Go out of edit
6. Take HUD or AO back into your inventory
7. Wear it
[10:30] Laylah Lecker: Here at CWS we use the huddles because it gives us the option to sync with our co-workers. I have the basic huddles and the deluxe huddles, and Veronica has kindly made notecards with our required poses already set up for you.[10:30] Laylah Lecker: However, this will only work for the deluxe version.
[10:30] Laylah Lecker: The basic version does not have the options for notecards, so if you decide to get that huddles you will have to rename your poses so they go in order.
[10:31] Laylah Lecker: I have both so I can show you how to rename your poses
[10:31] Laylah Lecker: all you have to do is put either 1,2,3 in front of each pose depending on what order you want them to be in
[10:31] Laylah Lecker: or A, B, C
[10:32] Laylah Lecker: You will learn what the poses are in an upcoming class, so don’t worry about that at the moment. For now we need to make sure you understand the basics J
[10:32] Laylah Lecker: I used the basic forever lol but upgraded to Deluxe so I could be familiar with it in case students wanted that one instead
[10:32] Laylah Lecker: and huddles look confusing
[10:33] Laylah Lecker: but just think of them like a remote control for your avi
[10:33] Laylah Lecker: like a remote control for your tv
[10:33] Laylah Lecker: we get to know them and how they operate
[10:33] Laylah Lecker: just takes some time to play with them :)
[10:33] Bella Qissentell: Layleah...can we delete poses form huddles?
[10:33] Laylah Lecker: yes you can :)
[10:34] Laylah Lecker: you right click on the pose you want to delete in the contents tab
[10:34] Laylah Lecker: like when you go to edit you go to contents tab
[10:34] Laylah Lecker: then find the pose you want to delete right click and choose delete
*******************************
[10:36] Laylah Lecker: ok next part of class :)
[10:37] Laylah Lecker: ➤ Bring them to Styling Stage and Teach them the styling formation on stage.
[10:37] Laylah Lecker: Let’s go over to the styling stage. It’s an exact replica of the actual stage so you will learn the formation here.
[10:37] Bella Qissentell: yay
[10:37] Laylah Lecker: its the same stage you were on for the evaluations
[10:38] Laylah Lecker: Styling events are held on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays at 5:00 pm/slt and Thursdays at12 pm/slt.
[10:39] Laylah Lecker: Styling events are the best practice you can get here. I highly recommend you come to as many as you can. There are cash prizes for the top three winners
[10:39] Laylah Lecker:
1st Place: 500L
2nd Place: 300L
3rd Place: 200L
[10:39] Laylah Lecker: So the possible lindens are good, but the best incentive is that you will learn how to gain confidence on the runway, unleash your creativity, and write stunning outfit descriptions.2nd Place: 300L
3rd Place: 200L
[10:39] Laylah Lecker: I will repeat over and over again that styling events are the best way to get hands on experience in runway modeling.
[10:40] Laylah Lecker: but thru out this semester we will show you ways to work with lag
[10:40] Laylah Lecker: lag will always be here
[10:40] Laylah Lecker: but you can learn to adapt to it
[10:40] Laylah Lecker: and work with it
[10:40] Laylah Lecker: its the meanest friend you will ever have lol
